Introduction:
This meditation guides you into a calm, reflective space, helping you reconnect with your breath, your body, and the present moment. It encourages mindfulness, inner peace, and a gentle awareness of your resilience.
Meditation : Moments of Stillness
Now, find a comfortable position and allow your body to relax.
Take a deep breath in… and slowly exhale.
Feel the rise and fall of your chest,
the rhythm of your breathing guiding you to calm.
Notice any thoughts that come and go,
like clouds drifting across a quiet sky.
Allow yourself to be present here and now,
feeling the quiet strength within you.
With each breath, release tension,
embrace stillness,
and remind yourself:
You are resilient.
You are present.
You are still rising.
Take one final deep breath in…
and slowly release it.
When ready, gently open your eyes,
carrying this sense of calm with you.
Benefits of Medtations
-
Reduces Stress and Anxiety
By focusing on slow breathing and the image of gentle ocean waves, this meditation helps quiet the sympathetic nervous system — the “fight or flight” response — and brings forward the parasympathetic “rest and restore” state. This shift can significantly reduce feelings of stress, racing thoughts, and anxiety. -
Promotes Deep Relaxation in the Body
The imagery of being supported by water encourages the body to release unnecessary tension. Shoulders, jaw, chest, and belly can soften as the rhythm of breath mirrors the natural rhythm of waves. This can bring both physical ease and a sense of emotional openness. -
Encourages Mental Clarity and Spaciousness
When the mind is guided to rest in something vast and steady, like the ocean, it creates a felt sense of spaciousness. This helps reduce mental clutter, allowing for clearer thinking and a more balanced perspective throughout the day. -
Supports Emotional Regulation
Ocean imagery often evokes feelings of safety, timelessness, and continuity. Reconnecting with this sense of stability can help regulate mood and encourage resilience when facing life’s challenges. -
Cultivates Connection and Renewal
The practice invites a moment to pause, step back, and reconnect with something larger than oneself. This can foster a sense of being held and supported — not just by the meditation, but by the greater Still Me Rising community of care and compassion.
